European Citizen’s Prize

As chairperson of the NGO Youthnet Hellas, Manos received the European Citizen’s Prize from European Parliament in 2013. European Citizen’s Prize was introduced after 2008 in order to honor on annual basis individuals or groups who have particularly distinguished in strengthening European integrations by the expression of European cooperation, openness to others and practical involvement in the development of mutual understanding. Youthnet Hellas was honored for its activities during the last years and mainly for:

  • - the conduction of the Annual Report on the Youth Sector in Greece;
  • - the involvement and active participation of hundreds of young people from Greece in EU mobility projects

EC Success Story

Within the framework of EC Lifelong Learning Programme (Grundtvig Learning Partnership) the project FYGO - “Feeling Younger by Getting Older” was developed during a two year period (2012-2014). Manos was a team member of the project, which was selected as a featured Success story by a panel of experts from the Directorate-General Education and Culture of the European Commission. The main project’s objectives were:

  • - to promote the creation of a culture of active ageing as a lifelong process;
  • - to ensure that rapidly-growing population of people who are currently in their late 50s and over would have opportunities for employment and active participation in social and family life, including through volunteering, lifelong learning, cultural expression and sports;
  • - to involve young generations in these activities.

UNESCO Label of Excellence

In 2013, at the 8th Youth Forum of UNESCO, 15 projects out of 1532 world-wide were selected to receive the UNESCO Label of quality and excellence. One of these was YouReCa – ‘developing YOUth REporting CApacities’, which aimed to assist young leaders from various NGOs to design, develop and create the Youth Report in their country. In total 15 young people from 4 different Continents were selected and successfully completed the training, which was held online through a specially designed web platform.Manos was the Author the educational material and the Training Manager of the international e-learning project YouReCa.

Coaching in Public Administration

Manos had the initial idea to introduce Coaching in the Public Administration in Greece through a specially designed training program. He is member of the team who is responsible for the design of the educational program titled 'Coaching for Collaboration & Effectiveness in the Public Government' at the National Center of Public Administration and Local Government.

Best Research Paper of HAEA

Manos’ paper titled 'Transformative learning as a paradigm shift: a comparative approach of the theories of Mezirow and Kuhn' was nominated as one of the best three papers of the Adult Education Journal - Quarterly of the Hellenic Adult Education Association during a period of 10+ years (among almost 150 other papers).

Train the Trainer Award

Manos was part of the team, who developed and implemented the Train the Trainer program of Game Tree. The program was awarded prize during the Education Festival 2016 by Skywalker.gr.

1st ranked Trainer

Manos has been First ranked Trainer amongst 73 colleagues in the National School of Public Administration and Local Government, following trainees' evaluation with an average score of 9.7/10.
